My Goals for This Week:
Continue my work on lesson plans and turn my second deadline in.
My Mentor:
I haven't heard from my mentor in over two weeks. Starting next week I will send her weekly updates on the progress I am making with my lesson plans, research, etc. Even if she doesn't reply very fast, she will still know what I am working on.
My Research:
Since I've now outlined more of what I want to cover of each day of the unit, I need to complete 5 lesson plans with seven additional sources in time for my third deadline on March 13th and again by the time of my fourth deadline on April 10th. That way I'll have 10 lesson plans in total for my project.
This week I focused on finding examples of the first five lesson plans (see My Goals for Next Week), and taking notes on what type of activities in each interested me. Those activities I'll keep in mind when writing the lessons that they fit in. My favorites have mainly come from the F.L.A.S.H program, which you can find here: http://www.kingcounty.gov/healthservices/health/personal/famplan/educators/HighSchool.aspx (these are the lesson plans for grades 9-12)
I only printed out two of the lesson plans that I liked for my deadline, just to give a general idea of what I was looking at.
My Goals for Next Week:
Write 5 lesson plans covering: The basics of the reproductive system, the biology of pregnancy and birth, the personal impact of teen pregnancy, and two lesson plans on STDs.
